Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Associate to manage Perishable Departments including produce, dairy, and bakery. You will help with inventory, merchandising, and customer service while ensuring a safe work environment and compliance with food handling rules.

You will train associates in stocking, pricing, and proper handling, while maintaining stock levels and tracking markdowns. Prior retail or lead experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or strongly preferred.
• Experience in retail with supervisory exposure is advantageous.
• Knowledge of cash handling and inventory control practices.
• Familiarity with perishable department guidelines and safety rules.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandising guidance.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with perishable department oversight including inventory and display.
• Ensure cash accountability and security procedures are followed.
• Train associates on proper stocking, freshness, pricing, and safety.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using daily tools and planning guides.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrence.
