Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Associate to assist the Store Manager in managing produce, dairy, meats, bakery, and related perishable areas. You will help with inventory, merchandising, pricing, and safety compliance while delivering friendly customer service in a fast-paced store environment.

Responsibilities include maintaining stock levels, training associates on proper handling and rotation, and ensuring adherence to company policies and sanitation standards.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret safety rules and procedures.
• Mathematical calculations (percentages, totals, etc.).
• Cashier functions and report generation knowledge.
• Understanding of inventory, merchandising and pricing standards.
• Willingness to obtain local food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with perishable department oversight.
• Maintain proper stock levels using store tools and guides.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Record and analyze perishable markdowns to minimize losses.
• Ensure customer needs are addressed promptly and courteously.
• Uphold sanitation standards and safety practices.
