Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Associate to manage the Perishable Departments, including produce, dairy, and bakery. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory control, merchandising, and customer service, ensuring safety and compliance with food handling rules.

Strong leadership and basic math skills are essential. Responsibilities include training associates, recording markdowns, and maintaining stock levels to meet store volume.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through strict cash accountability, key control, and adherence to company security practices and cash control procedures.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using the following tools (Current Ads/ Planners, Produce Order guide, Milk Sales history and order guide, Vendor Order Guide).
• Train assigned associates in proper stocking, rotation of Perishable products and in proper presentation, freshness and pricing standards.
• Record Perishable Markdowns, analyze causes and take corrective action to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure sanitation standards are followed and train associates in the Perishable departments.
• Assist customers and respond to needs and requests in an efficient and timely manner.
