Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Associate to oversee the Perishable Departments, including produce, meats, dairy, and bakery, ensuring fresh stock, quality presentation, and excellent customer service. You will assist with inventory management, pricing, safety, and adherence to food handling rules under the Store Manager's supervision.

You will help train associates in proper stock rotation, product handling, and policy compliance while maintaining safe, clean, and organized perishable areas

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through strict cash accountability, key control, and adherence to company security practices and cash control procedures.
• Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in the SOP manual, Employee Handbook, and company communications.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using provided tooling and orders.
• Train assigned associates in proper presentation, freshness, pricing standards, and safe handling of food in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Accurately record inventory levels as requested by the Store Support Center.
• Address customers' needs and requests in an efficient and timely manner.
