Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Associate to oversee Perishable Departments including produce, meats, dairy, frozen items, and bakery. You will assist with inventory management, pricing, and customer service while ensuring safety and compliance with food handling regulations.

The role involves training associates, maintaining stock freshness, and supporting the Store Manager in daily operations to drive sales and profitability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow SOPs, Employee Handbook, and company communications.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using tools like current Ads/Planners and order guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Record inventory levels accurately and address customer requests efficiently.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and food handling regulations.
• Assist with other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
