Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related areas under the Store Manager. You will help with inventory, merchandising, and customer service while ensuring a safe work environment with proper food handling compliance.

The role includes training associates, maintaining stock levels, and safeguarding assets while supporting store operations and daily customer interactions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Retail experience and supervisory exposure are desirable.
• Ability to obtain local/state food handling certifications if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining perishable stock levels and inventory accuracy.
• Ensure policies and procedures are followed in perishable departments.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Train on safe handling of food per regulations and SOPs.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Maintain customer service by addressing needs and requests promptly.
