Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Packaged Meats, Dairy, Frozen, Bread, and Thaw-and-Sell Bakery areas. You will manage stock levels, ensure fresh, appealing merchandise, and deliver quality customer service while upholding safety standards.

You will train associates in presentation, pricing, and safe food handling, supervise scheduling coverage, and drive compliance with sanitation and policy guidelines at the store level.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform basic math calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide, percentages).
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits.
• Ability to operate cash register functions.
• Knowledge of cash, facility, and safety control policies and practices.
• Effective interpersonal and oral & written communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and practices.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandise presentation guidance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using provided tools.
• Assist in training associates in proper perishable presentation, freshness and pricing standards.
• Assist in training associates in proper and safe handling of food per regulations.
• Assist in training with hourly recovery standards to model store standards.
• Train associates in stocking and rotating Perishable products.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling coverage and follow up on performance.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards in Perishable departments.
