Job summary

Dollar General stores seek a capable Perishable Department Manager to oversee Produce, Fresh Meat, Dairy, and other perishable lines. You will ensure accurate stock, appealing displays, and high-quality customer service while enforcing safety and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities include training staff, managing scheduling, and maintaining compliance with company policies and food handling regulations in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Ability to perform basic math and tally inventory.
• Experience with cash handling and register operations preferred.
• Knowledge of safety rules and food handling regulations.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram merchandising layouts.
• Willingness to train and coach store staff.

Responsibilities

• Manage Perishable Departments including inventory, merchandising and customer service.
• Maintain stock levels based on store volume and available tools.
• Train associates on perishable presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Oversee safe handling of food and compliance with regulations.
• Assist in scheduling to ensure adequate coverage and store operations.
• Record and analyze perishable markdowns and inventory levels.
