Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and related perishable areas. You will assist in inventory, merchandising, pricing, and safe operations to protect assets and ensure customers are served efficiently.

The role requires supervising staff, training associates, and maintaining compliance with food handling regulations. A strong focus on safety and loss prevention is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with perishable departments operations and inventory.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness and pricing standards.
• Ensure compliance with food handling rules and sanitation standards.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrence.
• Provide excellent customer service and address customer needs promptly.
