Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a lead for the Perishable Departments to oversee produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and related areas. You will support the Store Manager with inventory, merchandising, and a safe, compliant work environment while delivering quality customer service.

Preferred candidates have retail experience and some supervisory exposure, with a focus on accuracy, profitability, and training of associates in perishable presentation and safety practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using tools such as ads, planners, and order guides.
• Train associates in display, freshness, pricing, and safe handling of food per rules and regs.
• Record inventory levels and perform periodic markdown analysis to minimize losses.
• Ensure customer needs are addressed promptly and uphold sanitation standards.
• Assist with other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
