Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Lead for the Perishable Departments to manage produce, meats, dairy, bakery items, and related inventories. You will support the Store Manager with stock levels, merchandising, and customer service while maintaining safety and policy compliance.

The role requires leadership experience in retail, knowledge of perishables, and the ability to train staff on fresh standards and proper handling procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and percentages.
• Ability to operate cash registers and generate reports.
• Knowledge of cash handling, inventory, and merchandising controls.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Understanding of safety policies and proper plan-o-gram compliance.
• Willingness to obtain required local food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining perishable stock levels and ordering guides.
• Train associates on presentation, freshness, and pricing for perishable items.
• Ensure safe handling of food and compliance with rules and regs.
• Record inventory and perishable markdowns; analyze causes and corrective actions.
• Provide efficient customer service and respond to requests in a timely manner.
