Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage the Produce, Meat, Dairy, and Bakery areas. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory, merchandising, and ensuring quality customer service while protecting assets and maintaining safety standards.

You will train associates in proper perishable handling, rotate stock, and enforce plan-o-gram adherence. Prior retail and supervisory experience is valued, with food handling certifications as applicable.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience.
• Attainment of required local/state food handling certifications, if applicable.
• Ability to read and follow plan-o-gram and merchandising guidelines.
• Strong cash handling and loss prevention awareness.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and vendor guides.
• Train associates in proper stocking, freshness, and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure sanitation standards and safety practices are followed in perishable departments.
