Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a perishable department lead responsible for managing produce, meat, dairy, bakery and related stock. You will support the Store Manager with inventory control, merchandising, and safe handling practices to protect customers and assets.

The role requires strong organizational skills, cash handling familiarity, and ability to train associates in freshness, pricing and planogram execution at this busy store location.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity of the store through cash accountability and security practices.
• Implement SOPs, policies, and company communications as directed by the Store Manager.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using produce, meat, dairy and bakery planning tools.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, pricing, and safe handling of food.
• Record inventory levels and assist with customer requests promptly.
• Ensure sanitation standards and supervise adherence of staff in Perishable departments.
• Collaborate with Store Manager on other operational areas as needed.
