Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and related areas. The role focuses on inventory accuracy, product presentation, and high-quality customer service under Store Manager supervision.

Responsibilities include training staff, maintaining stock levels, and ensuring safety and compliance with food handling standards. This position requires high school diploma and prior retail supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
• Ability to learn and perform cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Understanding of plan-o-gram and merchandising guidance.
• Willingness to obtain required food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using perishable tools and guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and food handling rules.
• Support other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
