Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Lead to oversee the produce, meat, dairy, bakery and other perishable sections. Under Store Manager supervision, you will ensure accurate inventory, appealing merchandising, and safe, compliant operations while delivering strong customer service.

Youll train associates, manage stock levels, and monitor markdowns, pricing, and freshness. This role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and consistent execution of company guidelines across all perishable areas.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret policies and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math and variance analysis.
• Experience with cash registers and generating reports.
• Knowledge of inventory, shrink, and merchandising practices.
• Ability to train staff on perishable handling, safety, and presentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining financial integrity with cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow SOPs and company communications to ensure consistency.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using daily tools and guides (ads, planners, order guides).
• Train associates on proper perishable stocking, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Record inventory levels and markdowns; analyze causes and prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customers' needs are addressed efficiently and promptly.
• Support sanitation standards and staff training in Perishable departments.
