Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to oversee produce, meat, dairy, baked goods, and other perishables. The role focuses on fresh stock, attractive displays, pricing, and delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced retail environment.

You will support the Store Manager with inventory, safety, and training, while ensuring sanitation and compliance with food-handling rules and company policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using tools and guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Ensure safety and sanitation standards are followed in the Perishable departments.
• Record inventory levels and assist with customer service requests in a timely manner.
• Assist in merchandising, plan-o-gram following, and markdown management.
• Coordinate with Store Manager to address customer needs efficiently.
