Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related areas under Store Manager supervision. You’ll ensure inventory integrity, proper merchandising, and high-quality customer service in a fast-paced store environment.

Responsibilities include training staff on freshness, pricing, and safe food handling, while maintaining compliance with sanitation standards and company policies.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations and percentages.
• Ability to learn and operate cash register functions to generate reports.
• Ability to review statements for trends and control opportunities.
• Knowledge of cash handling, deposit control, and security practices.
• Ability to comply with company policies and food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with cash accountability, key control, and security practices.
• Follow SOPs, handbook, and communications guidance.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using ads, planners, and order guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Record inventory levels and assist in addressing customer needs promptly.
• Ensure sanitation standards and safety training in Perishable departments.
