Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Associate in charge of the Perishable Departments, including produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related cold items. You will work under the Store Manager to manage inventory, merchandise presentation, and customer service while ensuring safe and compliant operations.

You will train staff on freshness, pricing, and proper food handling, and support the Store Manager in maintaining accurate stock and protection of company assets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of retail experience; six months supervisory preferred.
• Prior lead or grocery store experience preferred.
• Local/state food handling certifications, if applicable.
• Willing to obtain required food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using planning tools and guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for perishables.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns; analyze causes and take corrective action.
• Ensure customer needs are addressed promptly and sanitation standards are followed.
