Job summary

Dollar General in Ocala, FL is seeking a Store Perishable Department Manager to oversee perishables including produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and frozen items. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory, merchandising, and customer service, ensuring safety and asset protection according to procedures.

You will train associates on freshness, pricing, and safe food handling, maintaining stock levels and responding promptly to customer requests.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow SOPs, handbook, and company communications.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using perishable tools and guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Train associates in safe handling of food per applicable rules and regulations.
• Record inventory levels as requested by the Store Support Center.
• Address customer needs and requests promptly and efficiently.
• Assist with other operational areas as directed by Store Manager.
