Job summary

Dollar General in Florida is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage the produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and frozen sections. You will support the Store Manager with inventory accuracy, merchandising, and customer service while ensuring safety and compliance with food handling rules.

You will train staff, interpret sales data, and uphold cash controls and security procedures to protect company assets. Strong leadership in a retail environment is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity through cash accountability and security practices.
• Follow SOPs, employee handbook, and company communications.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using planning tools and sales history.
• Train associates in perishable presentation, freshness, and pricing standards.
• Ensure safe handling of food and compliance with regulations.
• Record inventory levels and perform markdown analysis to minimize losses.
• Provide excellent customer service and address customer needs promptly.
• Assist with other operational areas as directed by the Store Manager.
