Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, dairy, meats, and bakery areas under the Store Manager, ensuring inventory accuracy, attractive merchandising, and strong customer service.

You will help maintain stock levels, enforce food safety, train associates, and monitor pricing and freshness across the perishable sections to protect company assets and drive sales.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math and cash handling.
• Experience with cash registers and reporting.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Ability to follow plan-o-gram guidance and pricing standards.
• Willingness to obtain required food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining perishable stock levels and freshness.
• Ensure accurate cash accountability and safety procedures.
• Train associates on merchandising and food-handling standards.
• Maintain sanitation and safety across perishable departments.
• Record inventory levels and perishable markdowns; analyze causes and adjust.
• Provide excellent customer service and respond to customer needs promptly.
