Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, meat, dairy, and bakery sections under the Store Manager’s supervision. You will help ensure inventory accuracy, pricing, and appealing store presentation while maintaining a safe work environment.

You will train associates on proper stocking, rotation, and food handling compliance, and support inventory controls to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through strict cash accountability, key control, and adherence to company security practices and cash control procedures.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using various tools and guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for all perishable areas and in safe food handling practices.
• Accurately record inventory levels as requested by the Store Support Center and maintain customer-focused service.
