Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Associate to manage Perishable Departments (produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and more) under the Store Manager's supervision. You will help with inventory, merchandising, and customer service while protecting company assets.

You will train associates in proper food handling, maintain stock levels, and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards. Prior retail leadership and food handling certs are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity of the store through strict cash accountability and proper security practices.
• Follow company SOPs and employee handbook policies; maintain inventory accuracy and merchandising standards.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels using provided tools and guides; train associates in perishable handling, rotation, and pricing standards.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences; ensure customers' needs are addressed promptly.
• Support sanitation and safety training for Perishable departments; assist with other store operations as directed by the Store Manager.
