Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an experienced Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, dairy, meat, bakery and related perishables in a busy store. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory, merchandising, and safety compliance while supervising associates and delivering quality customer service.

Responsibilities include maintaining stock levels, training staff on freshness, pricing, and safe handling of food products, and ensuring adherence to company policies and cash control

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager, as directed, in ensuring the financial integrity of the store through strict cash accountability, key control, and adherence to company security practices and cash control procedures.
• Follow company policies and procedures as outlined in the SOP manual, Employee Handbook, and company communications.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using available tools and guides.
• Train assigned associates in proper presentation, freshness, and pricing standards for all perishable areas.
• Record Perishable Markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure customers' needs and requests are addressed in an efficient and timely manner.
• Assist with training and supervision of associates to ensure food handling and safety compliance.
