Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related areas. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory control, merchandising, and customer service, while ensuring safe, compliant operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with inventory management and product presentation.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels based on store volume using available guides.
• Train associates in perishables presentation, freshness and pricing standards.
• Train associates in proper and safe handling of food per regulations.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure customers' needs and requests are addressed promptly.
