Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Perishable Department Lead to manage produce, meats, dairy, bakery and related areas. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory, merchandising and customer service, while protecting assets and ensuring food handling safety.

Strong leadership and cash control skills are required to run daily operations efficiently. You will train staff, supervise compliance with safety rules, and optimize perishable stock to meet store volume and promotions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 1 year retail experience and 6 months supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience leading a team in a grocery/retail setting is a plus.
• Local/state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in maintaining perishable stock levels and presentation.
• Ensure cash accountability, key control, and security procedures.
• Train associates on perishable standards, pricing, and safety.
• Record inventory levels and manage markdowns to minimize losses.
• Maintain sanitation standards across perishable departments.
