Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a capable lead for the Perishable Departments to manage produce, meat, dairy, bakery, and related areas. You will assist the Store Manager with inventory, merchandising, and customer service while ensuring safety and compliance with food handling rules.

You will train associates in freshness, pricing, and proper stocking, and you will record inventory levels, markdowns, and ensure adherence to SOPs and cash control procedures. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• 1 year retail experience and 6 months supervisory experience preferred.
• Lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of local/state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in inventory management, merchandise presentation and customer service.
• Maintain perishable stock levels using perishable planning tools and guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness, pricing, and food handling safety.
• Record perishable markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and safety policies.
• Protect company assets through security practices and cash control procedures.
• Provide timely responses to customer needs and requests.
