Job summary

Dollar General stores nationwide seek a Perishable Department Leader to oversee produce, meats, dairy, bakery, and stock rotation. Manage inventory, merchandising, and customer service while protecting company assets and ensuring food safety.

You will assist the Store Manager with stock planning, pricing, and training, maintaining proper stock levels, following plan-o-grams, and safeguarding equipment and cash handling procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and follow safety rules, diagrams, and procedures.
• Ability to perform basic math and generate reports from cash systems.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit control procedures.
• Willingness to obtain required local food handling certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager with inventory management and merchandising.
• Maintain perishable stock levels and use available guides and order tools.
• Train associates on stocking, freshness, and pricing standards for perishables.
• Ensure sanitation and safety compliance in the Perishable departments.
• Record inventory and markdowns; analyze causes and take corrective action.
