Job summary

Dollar General seeks a Perishable Department Lead to oversee produce, fresh meat, dairy, bakery, and related sections. You will support the Store Manager with inventory control, merchandise presentation and exceptional customer service.

This role includes training staff on freshness, pricing, and safe handling; maintaining stock levels; and ensuring sanitation compliance. You will help safeguard assets and foster a safe, clean store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• One year of retail experience and six months supervisory experience preferred.
• Previous lead experience and/or grocery store experience preferred.
• Attainment of required local and state food handling certifications, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in ensuring financial integrity via cash accountability and security practices.
• Maintain correct perishable stock levels and manage inventory tools and guides.
• Train associates in proper presentation, freshness and pricing standards for perishable areas.
• Ensure compliance with sanitation standards and food handling regulations.
• Record perishables markdowns and analyze causes to prevent recurrences.
• Provide excellent customer service and address customer needs efficiently.
