Job summary

Carle Health is seeking a Surgical Technician to join the perioperative team as an on-site contributor (first, second, or assisting technician) under RN supervision. The role emphasizes asepsis, sterile technique, and collaboration with surgeons to ensure readiness of trays and instrumentation.

Core duties include assisting with supplies, documenting per unit standards, and providing patient care support across obstetrical and surgical cases, enabling efficient room turnover and safe patient

Qualifications

• Associate’s Degree or Certificate of Completion in Surgical Technology required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 30 days per American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a sterile environment applying aseptic techniques.
• Assists in organization and coordination of supplies and equipment.
• Collaborates with surgeons and OR team to ensure trays and instrumentation are ready for procedures.
• Transcribes orders accurately and schedules tests and exams as directed.
• Performs documentation in patient records according to unit standards.
