Job summary

Carle Health seeks an RN First Assist (RNFA) to support surgeons in a perioperative setting. The RNFA will carry out independent nursing activities in perioperative assessment and post‑operative care while collaborating with surgeons and the OR team.

Qualifications include an Illinois RN license, CNOR, and BLS within 30 days. The role requires 2+ years perioperative nursing and completion of an RNFA program. Compensation aligns with Carle Health standards.

Qualifications

• Licensed RN (Illinois) with RNFA credentials.
• BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
• CNOR certification completed or in process.

Responsibilities

• Assist surgeon in general and specialized surgeries with OR team.
• Prepare trays, instrumentation, and supplies for procedures.
• Provide patient care and support during perioperative phase.
• Administer medications as directed by the surgeon.
• Perform procedures for hemostasis, suturing, draping, and exposure.
• Position patient and monitor vital signs intra‑operatively.
• Educate patient and family on operation and aftercare.
• Conduct post‑operative assessments and monitor for complications.
• Review patient history and health assessments; monitor healing.
• Assist with room turnover and equipment coordination.
