Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Medical / surgical nursing experience.
• Current state licensure to practice. BLS/BCLS within 90 days.
• ACLS within 90 days. PALS if pediatric care is included within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA Health.
• Assess preoperative and postoperative status per policies.
• Interpret information from monitors.
• Describe pathophysiology of common diseases.
• Apply scoring/discharge criteria for transfer (e.g., Aldrete).
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Manage recovery from anesthesia – various modalities (general, MAC, regional, local).
• Provide hand-off reports and education to patient and family.
