Job summary

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience.
• Medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Current state licensure to practice within good standing.
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
• Successful completion of Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current ACLS certification.
• PALS certification is required when pediatric care is included in the facility scope services within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA Health.
• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility policies.
• Interpret information from monitoring equipment.
• Describe the underlying pathophysiology of diseases encountered.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Prepare for and manage recovery from anesthesia (general, MAC, regional, and local).
• Provide patient education regarding perioperative care, pain management, and discharge expectations.
• Document nursing care completely, accurately, and legibly.
• Coordinate hand-off reports to team members and collaborate with other disciplines.
