Job summary

SCA Health is hiring an experienced perioperative/perianesthesia nurse to support preoperative and postoperative care at our Orange, CA facilities. The role focuses on evaluating patient status, administering anesthesia-related care, and providing clear hand-offs to the care team.

Applicants should have an Accredited Nursing Program, 1 year PACU/preoperative experience, active RN license, and relevant certifications (BLS/BCLS, ACLS; PALS if pediatric care is involved).

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience.
• Medical/surgical nursing experience.
• Current state licensure to practice within good standings.
• Successful completion of BLS/BCLS within 90 days of employment.
• Successful completion of ACLS within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification required when pediatric care is included within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission and values of SCA Health.
• Assess preoperative and postoperative status per facility policies, including cardiovascular, respiratory, neurological and pain management needs.
• Interpret information from noninvasive and invasive monitors.
• Describe pathophysiology of common disease processes and anesthesia techniques.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care and implement it.
• Prepare for and manage patient recovery from anesthesia across various modalities.
• Ensure patient safety, infection prevention, and privacy.
• Provide education to patient and family regarding perioperative care and recovery.
• Document care completely and communicate patient status during hand-offs.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team and participate in quality improvement.
