Job summary

University of Rochester is seeking a Perioperative Communications Coordinator to streamline patient care flow in the operating room and related locations. You will support anesthesia coordinators, charge nurses, and surgeons while triaging calls and maintaining the OR schedule.

Responsibilities include registration corrections, staff training, and coordinating patient transports; experience with PICIS/Flowcast is preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree and 3 years of related work experience or equivalent.
• Experience in an Emergency Department setting preferred.
• 1 year in a role with minimal supervision preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary liaison in the OR and related locations, coordinating staff and communication.
• Triages calls, schedules, and ensures accurate patient flow and registration.
• Handle complaints and route inquiries to appropriate staff.
• Assist with registration, billing corrections, and use EMR/scheduling tools to optimize workflow.
• Provide department training and orientation for staff and students as assigned.
• Coordinate patient transports and support QA audits as needed.
