Job summary

SCA Health is seeking a perioperative nurse to support preoperative and postoperative patient care in a high‑volume surgical setting. You will assess patients, interpret monitors, and contribute to individualized plans of care across the perioperative continuum.

Experience in preop or PACU, strong nursing fundamentals, and current licensure are required. BLS/BCLS and ACLS (and PALS if pediatric care is involved) certifications should be completed within specified timeframes.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing.
• One year of Pre Operative or PACU experience required.
• Medical / surgical nursing experience.
• Current state licensure to practice within good standings.
• Successful completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 90 days of employment or documentation of current BLS/BCLS certification.
• Successful ACLS certification within 90 days of employment.
• PALS certification required if pediatric care is included within the facility scope within 90 days of employment or documentation of current PALS certification.

Responsibilities

• Promote the mission, vision, and values of SCA.
• Assess patient’s preoperative and postoperative status at intervals according to facility policies.
• Interpret information from monitors.
• Describe the underlying pathophysiology of diseases.
• Describe physiology of anesthesia techniques and interventions.
• Develop an individualized perianesthesia plan of care.
• Implement the plan of care including managing patient recovery from anesthesia.
• Communicate patient status throughout perioperative care.
• Provide education to patient and family; protect patient rights and privacy.
• Document nursing care completely and accurately; hand off to team.
