Job summary

VEG in Asheville, NC is seeking a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join the front lines of emergency care. You’ll handle a wide range of cases, assist veterinarians, perform triage, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing while providing compassionate support to pets and their owners.

Ideal candidates hold a CVT/RVT/LVMT with AVMA‑accredited program, have 1+ year emergency experience, and are comfortable with fast‑paced, noisy environments, night/weekend shifts,

Qualifications

• CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT credentialing in the state where VEG practice is located.
• Minimum 1+ year experience in veterinary technician role, emergency preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, noisy environment; multitask under pressure.
• Proficient with practice management software and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care, monitoring, and emotional support from triage to discharge.
• Assist doctors in anesthesia, treatments, diagnostics, and critical care.
• Perform procedures and use central lines, endoscopy, ultrasound as trained.
• Communicate clearly with team; support care plans and patient flow.
• Maintain patient and owner comfort during stressful emergencies.
• Ensure accurate documentation in EMR and unit records.
• Stay compliant with safety, infection control, and hospital policies.
• Be prepared for night/weekend shifts as needed.
