Tradebe Environmental Services in Merrillville, IN is seeking a People Services Specialist to deliver a best-in-class employee experience through onboarding, benefits administration, and leave management. You will partner with hiring managers and IT to ensure a smooth start for new hires and maintain accurate onboarding records.

The role also supports payroll and HR operations, maintains confidential data in HRIS, and helps ensure compliance with FMLA, ADA, and Form I-9.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in Human Resources, People Operations, Benefits Administration, or related field.
• Experience supporting onboarding, benefits and leave administration.
• Knowledge of FMLA, ADA, Form I-9 and benefits administration preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with a customer-service mindset.
• Proficiency with HR systems and Microsoft 365 applications.
• SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary People & Culture contact for new hires from offer to onboarding.
• Coordinate pre-employment requirements, I-9, and onboarding activities.
• Communicate onboarding timelines, expectations and resources.
• Partner with hiring managers, IT and stakeholders for a smooth start.
• Facilitate new hire orientation and transition into the organization.
• Conduct follow-up checks and maintain onboarding records.
• Support benefits enrollment, life events, leave requests, and program questions.
• Coordinate leave administration activities: docs, approvals, return-to-work, ongoing updates.
• Collaborate with employees, managers, vendors, payroll, and third-party admins.
• Support annual open enrollment, benefits communications, and compliance education.
• Maintain accurate benefits and leave records and follow-up actions.
• Assist payroll processing and maintain employee records.
• Process personnel changes and audit HR/payroll data.
• Maintain HRIS data and respond to payroll inquiries.
