Job summary

Evlo AI in Chicago is seeking a People Operations professional to own the operational backbone of onboarding, HRIS administration, benefits and payroll coordination, and compliance for a fast-growing tech company.

You will act as the connective tissue between HR, finance, and engineering leadership, translating headcount growth into clean systems, smooth processes, and a great employee experience from day one.

Qualifications

• Onboarding, HRIS administration, benefits and payroll coordination, and compliance.
• Experience with multi-state employment compliance and leave administration.
• Strong data reporting and analytics capabilities and ability to present metrics to leadership.
• Bachelor's degree in HR, business, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Bonus: experience with equity administration (Carta/Shareworks) or OKR tooling is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administer and continuously improve the HRIS (Workday, Rippling, BambooHR, or Gusto) with data accuracy and clean integrations.
• Own onboarding and offboarding end-to-end: provisioning, paperwork, orientation scheduling, and equipment logistics.
• Coordinate benefits enrollment, open enrollment cycles, and vendor relationships; serve as the first point of contact for employee questions.
• Support performance review cycles, engagement surveys, and people analytics—building dashboards and reporting in Culture Amp or Looker.
• Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment requirements across multi-state workforces, including EEO, I-9, and leave administration.
• Partner with recruiters and finance on headcount planning, offer administration, and new-hire data handoffs.
• Document, audit, and refine people processes—turning tribal knowledge into scalable playbooks.
