About Coastal Waste & Recycling

At Coastal Waste & Recycling, we’re building more than a company, we’re building a team. As one of the fastest-growing privately held waste and recycling companies in the Southeast, we’re looking for people who take pride in their work, put safety first, and are ready to grow with us.

People Experience Ambassador (HR Partner)
Coastal Waste & Recycling
Join Our Team!

At Coastal Waste & Recycling, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an experienced, hands‑on

People Experience Ambassador who knows how to build relationships, navigate complex employee matters, and partner with operational leaders to drive results.

This isn’t your typical desk-based HR role. We’re looking for someone who enjoys being in the field, connecting with employees, and making a meaningful impact on the teams they support.

Our ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in employee relations, sound judgment, and the confidence to independently handle workplace investigations, coach leaders through challenging situations, and turn workforce data into actionable solutions.

If you’re a proactive HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, operational environment and enjoys being where the action happens, we’d love to meet you!

What You’ll Do
  • Serve as a trusted HR partner to operational leaders and employees, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, company policies, and workforce challenges.
  • Independently conduct workplace investigations, document findings, recommend disciplinary actions, and guide leaders through sensitive employee matters.
  • Regularly visit assigned Coastal locations, build relationships with frontline employees, and stay connected to operational needs.
  • Analyze turnover, attendance, retention, and other workforce metrics to identify trends and partner with leaders on meaningful improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve employee engagement, address workforce concerns, and strengthen employee retention.
  • Support key HR processes, including onboarding, employee changes, performance documentation, and separations.
  • Ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices, maintain accurate documentation, and identify potential compliance concerns.
  • Partner with Recruiting, Payroll, Benefits, Training, and other People Experience teams to deliver effective HR solutions.
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in an HR Generalist, Employee Relations Specialist, or HR Business Partner role.
  • Demonstrated experience independently leading employee relations investigations, including interviews, documentation, findings, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Experience advising managers on employee performance, workplace concerns, corrective action, and policy interpretation.
  • Strong understanding of employment laws, HR practices, and workplace compliance.
  • Experience analyzing workforce data, identifying trends, and partnering with leaders to improve employee retention and performance.
  • Strong communication, conflict resolution, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Excellent judgment, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive employee matters independently.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to assigned operational locations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with HR information systems.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or English and Haitian Creole.
What Will Set You Apart
  • Experience supporting multiple locations or a field-based workforce.
  • Background in waste management, transportation, logistics, manufacturing, or other operationally intensive industries.
  • Experience using Workday or a comparable HRIS.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional HR certification, such as SHRM-CP or PHR.
  • Proven success partnering with operational leaders to improve turnover, attendance, employee engagement, or workforce performance.
Why Coastal Waste & Recycling?

At Coastal, we believe People Experience is about more than policies and processes. It’s about being connected to our team members, understanding the business, and making a difference where it matters most.

As a People Experience Ambassador, you’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of employee relations matters, build meaningful partnerships with operational leaders, and directly influence the employee experience across your assigned locations.

You’ll join a collaborative People Experience team that values initiative, accountability, sound judgment, and practical solutions.

We’re looking for someone who doesn’t wait for challenges to come to them — someone who gets involved, asks questions, identifies opportunities, and takes action.
