Job summary

Coastal Waste & Recycling, Inc. is seeking a proactive People Experience Ambassador to join our field-based HR team. You will act as a trusted HR partner to operational leaders and frontline employees, conduct investigations, and drive people-related improvements across our locations.

In this role you will handle employee relations, performance coaching, policy interpretation, and workforce data analysis. Regular travel to assigned sites is expected, with a focus on practical, compliant HR

Qualifications

• 3+ years in HR with focus on employee relations investigations and policy guidance.
• Experience advising managers on performance, policy interpretation, and compliance.
• Ability to travel regularly to assigned locations and work across multiple teams.

Responsibilities

• Independently conduct workplace investigations, document findings, and guide disciplinary actions.
• Visit Coastal locations regularly to stay connected with frontline operations.
• Analyze turnover, attendance and retention to identify trends and improvements.
• Support onboarding, changes, performance documentation, and separations.
• Ensure consistent policy application and compliant documentation.
• Collaborate with Recruiting, Payroll, Benefits, Training, and other teams.
• Assist with HR projects to improve turnover and workforce performance.

What You'll Do

• Serve as a trusted HR partner to operational leaders and employees, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, company policies, and workforce challenges.
• Independently conduct workplace investigations, document findings, recommend disciplinary actions, and guide leaders through sensitive employee matters.
• Regularly visit assigned Coastal locations, build relationships with frontline employees, and stay connected to operational needs.
• Analyze turnover, attendance, retention, and other workforce metrics to identify trends and partner with leaders on meaningful improvements.
• Identify opportunities to improve employee engagement, address workforce concerns, and strengthen employee retention.
• Support key HR processes, including onboarding, employee changes, performance documentation, and separations.
• Ensure consistent application of HR policies and practices, maintain accurate documentation, and identify potential compliance concerns.
• Partner with Recruiting, Payroll, Benefits, Training, and other People Experience teams to deliver effective HR solutions.

What We're Looking For

• 3+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in an HR Generalist, Employee Relations Specialist, or HR Business Partner role.
• Demonstrated experience independently leading employee relations investigations, including interviews, documentation, findings, and disciplinary recommendations.
• Experience advising managers on employee performance, workplace concerns, corrective action, and policy interpretation.
• Strong understanding of employment laws, HR practices, and workplace compliance.
• Experience analyzing workforce data, identifying trends, and partnering with leaders to improve employee retention and performance.
• Strong communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent judgment, professionalism, discretion, and the ability to manage sensitive employee matters independently.
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly to assigned operational locations.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experience with HR information systems.
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish or English and Haitian Creole.

What Will Set You Apart

• Experience supporting multiple locations or a field-based workforce.
• Background in waste management, transportation, logistics, manufacturing, or other operationally intensive industries.
• Experience using Workday or a comparable HRIS.
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Professional HR certification, such as SHRM-CP or PHR.
• Proven success partnering with operational leaders to improve turnover, attendance, employee engagement, or workforce performance.
