Job summary

Akron Children’s is seeking a Staff Nurse to provide compassionate, evidence-based care across pediatric units in an onsite setting. The role emphasizes family-centered practice, collaboration with physicians and care teams, and mentorship of junior staff.

The Nurse will manage care planning, follow established protocols, document accurately in the EMR, and participate in quality improvement and safety initiatives. BSN, Ohio RN license, and BLS are required.

Qualifications

• BSN required or must be obtained within 5 years from date of hire.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Ohio is required.
• Years of relevant experience: Minimum of one (1) year of experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and directs nursing care with a focus on family centered care for individuals or groups of patients within the assigned scope of practice.
• Demonstrates knowledge and skills to provide care for physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of patients of all ages.
• Performs leadership and professional duties.
• Performs patient-centered care duties.
• Performs quality improvement and safety duties.
• Precepts new employees and mentors clinical staff as needed.
• Supports provider staff and promotes collaboration for efficient operation and quality care.
