Job summary

Advocate Children’s Hospital Oak Lawn (4440 W 95th St) seeks May 2027 Respiratory Therapy graduates for a per diem/registry role in a pediatric hospital with a world-class NICU.

You will perform routine respiratory procedures under supervision, manage equipment, and adhere to infection prevention guidelines, with flexible shifts to fit school schedules. This is an excellent entry point into pediatric RT, offering hands-on experience within Advocate Health.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• No prior experience required.
• Illinois externs: extern status must not exceed 3 years from enrollment.

Responsibilities

• Under supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist, perform routine basic respiratory procedures including oxygen therapy and pulse oximetry.
• Organize and maintain respiratory therapy equipment and supplies per department standards.
• Clean and reassemble equipment; manage infection prevention guidelines when handling disposables.
• Complete hospital competencies and learn new equipment, procedures, and processes as needed.
• Assist with patient positioning and transporting as required.
• Provide age-appropriate care and understand growth and development stages used in department policies.
