Job summary

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• No experience required.
• Illinois externs: status within 3 years from enrollment.
• Wisconsin externs: must transition into graduate respiratory therapist position immediately.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills; ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Assist under supervision with routine respiratory therapy procedures (oxygen, pulse oximetry, aerosol therapy, incentive spirometry).
• Maintain and organize department respiratory equipment and supplies.
• Collect, clean, and reassemble equipment per infection prevention guidelines.
• Complete hospital competencies and learn new equipment and processes.
• Perform patient positioning and transferring duties using proper technique.
