Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative to register patients and collect co-pays at the point of service. You will verify demographics and insurance in the system, answer calls, and guide patients toward Financial Counseling when needed.

The role requires professional communication, familiarity with medical terminology, and adherence to HIPAA. Some travel between sites may be required, and a high school diploma is required with a preference for EMR/HIS experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• 1 year of related office or retail experience with direct customer contact is required.
• EMR experience is preferred.
• AMPFM, Misys, or HIS platform experience is preferred.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Knowledge of Medical Terminology and HIPAA privacy laws is preferred.
• Spanish language ability is preferred.
• Follow payer or governmental requirements as required by organization.

Responsibilities

• Register patients efficiently and collect co-pay and deductible amounts at the time of service.
• Document accurately in the system and maintain correct demographic and insurance data.
• Answer telephone inquiries and respond to questions promptly.
• Identify uninsured or underinsured patients and refer to Financial Counselor.
• Review accounts to identify prior unpaid liabilities.
