Job summary

Phoenix Children's Hospital, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Patient Access Representative to efficiently register patients, collect co-pays, and verify demographic and insurance information. The role acts as the primary liaison for patients receiving care and may travel between sites.

You will document data in the EMR, answer questions by phone, refer uninsured patients to the Financial Counselor, and support a positive patient experience while maintaining HIPAA compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s Degree preferred.
• 1 year of related office or retail experience including direct customer contact.
• EMR experience and/or HIS platform experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and ICD-9/CPT codes; HIPAA privacy knowledge.
• Spanish speaking/writing ability preferred.
• Current BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Register patients and collect co-pay/deductibles at registration.
• Document information accurately in demographics and insurance fields.
• Answer phones courteously and promptly.
• Refer uninsured/underinsured to Financial Counselor.
• Verify insurance and obtain authorizations for unregistered patients.
• Maintain positive relationships with patients, staff, and management.
• Prioritize and monitor daily registration tasks for accuracy and timeliness.
• Participate in hospital educational programs to stay current.
