Job summary

Children’s National Hospital in Maryland is seeking a Patient Access Representative to provide friendly, accurate front-line support for families seeking ancillary services. You will schedule appointments, collect demographics and insurance data, and help patients navigate registrations and co-payments.

The role requires a high school diploma, 2 years of related experience, and strong MS Office skills. You will work under moderate supervision and may float to different ancillary access areas as

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2 years related work experience required.
• Broad knowledge of administrative processes and customer service.
• Computer knowledge required; Microsoft Office experience (Word & Excel).
• Must be able to type at least 35 words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate accuracy of scheduling patients using the department's scheduling system.
• Verify charge codes with diagnostic codes and enter data into billing/registration systems.
• Complete online registration with parent/guardian by phone or in person.
• Collect demographic and insurance information and update systems as needed.
• Explain co-payment and payment options to parents; refer to Financial Information Center as needed.
• Assist with cash collection and billing preparation.
