Job summary

Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is seeking a Surgical Scheduler to manage operating room and procedure scheduling with a focus on coordinating complex cases and optimizing OR utilization.

The role requires working from the hospital campus with occasional remote work 1–2 days per month, and a typical shift of 8 hours, Monday through Friday, starting around 8:30 am. Qualifications include a high school diploma and at least one year of hospital experience, preferably with EPIC

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Minimum one year experience in a hospital clinical setting is required.
• Experience booking and scheduling procedures in a hospital/clinic setting for at least one year is highly preferred.
• Working knowledge of medical terminology.
• Typing speed of 60–75 words per minute.

Responsibilities

• Schedules all operating room procedures and invasive procedures requiring general anesthesia.
• Coordinates complex surgical cases between OR and multiple service lines.
• Creates case entries and schedules cases for community providers.
• Assist providers to schedule time-sensitive cases outside of block schedule.
• Notifies surgeons, anesthesia and nursing staff of schedule changes or conflicts.
• Initiates resolution of scheduling conflicts and changes.
• Inputs anesthesia assignments for operating rooms and imaging suites.
