Job summary

Cook County Health is seeking a Perioperative OR Scheduler at John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital to coordinate surgical schedules across Perioperative Services, Nursing, Anesthesia, and Revenue Cycle.

This role requires discretion, independence, and strong communication with surgeons and staff to ensure timely and accurate scheduling of present and future procedures. The OR Scheduler will maintain case queues, verify CPT codes, obtain required authorizations, and participate in daily scheduling

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 2 years of experience using an electronic health record and running multiple programs.
• 2 years of experience with coding software for surgical procedure orders.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a main resource to physicians for OR scheduling.
• Maintains surgical queue daily and updates the schedule.
• Cancels and reschedules cases as needed.
• Attends daily OR scheduling huddles with Perioperative leadership.
• Ensures accurate CPT codes and encounter documentation.
• Works with insurance authorization and revenue cycle to obtain patient authorization or payment information.
