Job summary

Shriners Children's Chicago in Honolulu, HI is seeking a part-time Scheduling Coordinator to support pediatric surgical scheduling. The role collaborates with Admissions, Dental Care Manager, dentists, and patient guardians to ensure eligible patients are scheduled for preadmission testing and outpatient surgery.

The incumbent will manage scheduling through EPIC, coordinate changes, cancellations, and communications across departments, and provide education on the dental process to families.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical terminology course or Medical Assistant training preferred.
• Minimum two years' experience in an acute care facility, outpatient surgery center, or surgery center, or surgeon's office.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate surgical procedures and dental cases performed in the operating room in EPIC
• Coordinate surgery dates and communicate scheduling information with patients, families, and hospital staff
• Manage surgery changes, cancellations, and rescheduling
• Ensure required information and pre-operative needs are coordinated prior to surgery
• Maintain accurate scheduling records and documentation
• Communicate with multiple departments and staff members to ensure cases are properly coordinated
• Respond to scheduling questions and follow up on outstanding items in a timely manner
• Work closely with outreach coordinator to target dated for incoming outreach patients
